Skin care favorites this summer-monsoon

Though the rains have arrived in Mumbai, we are still transitioning from summer to monsoon. It is not proper monsoon yet. The temperatures are still high and its really warm and humid. This tends to make my skin really greasy though my skin is basically dry.  To add to it, I have also been going for swimming since the past one month and it really leaves my skin behaving weirdly and choosing the right skin care products have been a little tricky for me. I am sure my skin has been confused whether it should be dry or greasy 😛

Coming to the post, today’s post is about my skincare favorites, saviors for my skin in this not so favorable climate.

Dove Inner Glow gentle exfoliating cleanser

I have been using this right from April, when it was peak summer. What I like the most about this one is it leaves my skin squeaky clean and matte for hours after use without making it greasy and also doesn’t dry it out. The texture is slightly gritty since its meant to exfoliate. Overall, it is an amazing facewash for this humid climate.

Patanjali Aloe Vera Gel

This has been my savior throughout summer. I am not exactly a fan of Patanjali products, but this particular gel is amazing. I was looking for a good, economical easily available aloevera gel and picked it up.  I have used up so many tubes of this in the last few months that I have now lost count. I have used it as  face and body moisturizer, face mask, hair mask and also as a after-swimming and after-sun soothing gel.

Fabindia Rose Water

This is an old favorite. Of the so many rose waters I have used, this one is a permanent in my vanity. I just love it. Since my skin is basically dry and sensitive, I avoid alcohol based toners and use this. Also use it as a face mist to instantly freshen up. So many times, I just use this and aloe gel after cleansing my skin and let my skin soak in the coolness.

Vichy Normaderm Nuit Detox

This is the only night cream that suited me all through summer. Everything else made my face feel like an oil well. Again, this is something that I have been using since quite sometime. You can read the review about it here

Aquasoft Moisturizing Lotion

This one was prescribed to my by my dermatologist. Don’t go by the looks of this. This simple looking humble bottle of moisturizer is amazing. It has a pleasant fragrance and super light texture. It gets immediately absorbed and leaves the skin feeling fresh yet moisturized. I use it as a face as well as body moisturizer.

Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock

I love that this sunscreen is SPF 50, gives a matte effect, doesn’t leave a whitish cast and most of all doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. It has been my summer favorite since many years. Perfect for humid climate. Also love the fact that it comes in a tiny tube that can be easily carried in the handbag.
