Lakme Absolute Illuminating Foundation – Review, Swatches

Lakme Absolute Illuminating Foundation Review

Whenever I use foundations, I tend to go for ones that give sheer to medium coverage. Main reason being – they are easier to work with.

During summers, I mostly avoid using foundation since the Mumbai heat and humidity tends to melt the foundation. But whenever I do, Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation and Mac Studio Fix powder foundation are my top favorites. Because, even if I sweat, the foundation doesn’t look cakey/patchy.

For winters, I like foundations that give sheer coverage, and the same time give a dewy look. In the winter that went by, I discovered an amazing foundation from Lakme –  the Illuminating Foundation from the Absolute range.

My Take on Lakme Absolute Illuminating Foundation

Packaging – It comes in a plastic pump bottle which looks metallic. It is sturdy enough to travel with and is travel friendly – The lid is secured well to avoid any accidental spillage of the foundation.

Shade Selection- It comes in four shades –

  • Ivory Glow – Lightest shade in the range with pink undertone
  • Natural Flare – Light shade with yellow undertone
  • Beige Glimmer – Medium shade with strong yellow undertones. I picked up this shade for my NC 41 skin tone. It does look half a shade darker than my actual skin tone, but given the shade choices, this one is the best match.
  • Honey Beam – Darkest in the range, however still quite light for dusky beauties.

Swatch – Shade Beige Glimmer

Blended – Notice how beautifully it has blended giving a natural looking sheer coverage

Fragrance – It has a strong citrusy fragrance which is typical of a lot of Lakme products. I am not particularly a  fan of this fragrance. But then, I don’t mind it either

Texture –  The texture is almost gel like – not too rich, neither too dry. I don’t use any brush or sponge to apply it, it blends well even with fingers. However once you dot it over your face, you need to work really quickly, since it tends to start drying up soon.

Finish & Coverage – It gives a sheer to medium coverage. It contains very fine shimmer which gives a lovely glow and a dewy appearance to the skin without making you look like a disco ball.

It does cover redness to some extent, but doesn’t really hide blemishes. However, it works really well in fixing appearance of slightly uneven skin tone.

I use very little quantity to cover entire face and neck for a natural looking glow.

I have dry skin and love how dewy my skin looks when I use this in winters. However, in summer when climate is humid, it looks more oily than dewy, so this is not the best choice at this time even for those with dry skin.

Do I recommend Lakme Absolute Illuminating Foundation?

Yes, you will love it if – you are looking for a natural looking sheer-medium coverage foundation which gives a dewy look. However, since there are only four shades, finding the right shade can be tough.

  1. This foundation looks really good. The coverage, the finish, the citrus scent and the shade is so perfect in your picture. Even I prefer sheer to medium coverage foundation. Hopefully it is good for oily skin too ?

    • Thanks, I really love the finish of this one. Also, rare to find a perfect shade when you have just 4 shades to choose from 😀 No dear, if you have oily skin, this might give a greasy look.
