Aveeno Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream

Aveeno Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream

I had purchased this last winter before Aveeno products were made available directly here in India. I have really dry skin which becomes even drier in winters. If I neglect moisturizing at a stretch for a few days, my skin becomes even drier and sensitive and irritated. At such times, I completely stop using any skin care or makeup products, which might irritate skin even further. And stick to bare minimum – a soothing moisturizer and a sunscreen if I have to step out in the sun. Earlier, A-Derma Exomega cream used to be my savior in such times. This time, decided to give Aveeno a try instead.

My Take on Aveeno Eczema Therapy Moisturizing Cream

It comes in a simple, huge tube with a flip top cap. It is a white, balm like cream with a really thick texture. It has absolutely no fragrance, which is perfect so as to not irritate the skin further.

On application, I wouldn’t say it gets completely absorbed. It rather moisturizes the skin and forms a protective layer on the skin. It forms kind of a physical barrier on the skin and protects it from getting further irritated. This is what makes it so unique and amazing for dry, sensitive skin. Whenever my skin gets irritated and sensitive due dry and harsh climate or other irritants, this works amazingly well for me. If I apply before bedtime, I wake up with much calmer skin, with most of the redness vanished. So, within 3-4 days of application, the irritated skin would have completely calmed down. Though it is thick, it does not make the skin look oily.

The tube was almost empty, but managed to squeeze out the last bit for a picture 🙂

After blending. See how it doesn’t look even a bit greasy even though the cream is really heavy…

Also, I noticed that whenever I used it on my face, it kind of blurred out the pores, behaving like a primer. So I have even used it as a primer on some days and it worked really well.

When I purchased this, the biggest thing that attracted me to it was that it claimed to have colloidal oatmeal as a skin protectant. However, I was a bit disappointed to see in the ingredient list that that it was only 1%

The only thing about this is that, it is not easily available here yet in India. Though a lot of other moisturizers have been launched here, I haven’t seen this one around yet. Still, it is available on Amazon (they get it from the U.S.) at quite a high price. The price is definitely steep, however, I use it only when required and it has lasted me almost a year.

Do I recommend it?

A big yes. If you are prone to dry, itchy and irritated skin due to eczema, this one is really effective.

How do you take care of your skin on bad skin days? I would love to know. Do let me know in the comments below..
