5 clay masks to try this summer

Since I have dry skin, I tend to steer away from clay masks most of the year. Summers in Mumbai are especially hot and humid, making even my dry skin look greasy and dull. In such climate, using clay masks remove dirt, help with oil-control and leaves the skin smooth and radiant. Read on to find out my top favorite clay based masks-

1. Lotus Herbals Frujuvenate Skin Perfecting & Rejuvenating Fruit Pack

It has a fruity fragrance – more like peaches and has a peachy pink color. I love the fragrance of this one. Comes in tube packaging and various sizes.  I love how this one gives an instant glow and freshness. It’s one of the best clay based packs in this price range. With constant use, you will gradually see the difference it makes to your skin.

Price Rs 175 for 60 gm

2. Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Pack

This summer has been bad for my skin. Neglect and wrong eating habits led to bad bouts of acne, during which, neem based products have been my saviors – Vya Naturals Neem Turmeric Face Wash and this neem pack by Himalaya really helped in reducing my acne. Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Pack contains neem, turmeric and multani mitti (fullers earth) helps reduce the secretion of excess oil, clean clog pores and prevent pimples. If you have acne prone skin (and even if you don’t) it’s worth a try.

Price Rs 70 for 50 gm

3. Neemli Naturals Four Clay Face Mask

Though a bit on the expensive side, this is a really good mask to be used in summer. It contains French red clay, French green clay, Zeolite Clay and Fuller’s earth. It has a rich red color and gives a soothing sensation when applied. If you do not mind the price, this is a good chemical-free clay mask. You can read the complete review here.

Price Rs 550 for 70 gms

4. Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask

Innisfree has some really amazing face masks, and this is one of their best selling masks. This is one mask with which shows almost immediate results, and I could see why this is so popular.  No doubt, it is expensive. But if you don’t mind the price, for the results that it gives, I think it is definitely worth buying – especially if you have oily skin. You can read the complete review here.

Price – Rs 1100 for 100 gm

5. Himalaya Refreshing Fruit Pack

Another inexpensive, yet good mud based pack from Himalaya herbals. It is a mud based pack meant for normal to dry skin. Though I have never seen any instant, amazing results with this one, I do love using it and keep re-purchasing it from time to time. Again, for the price, I think it’s worth giving this a try.

Price – Rs 75 for 50 gm

For most of these masks, these are some general tips I generally follow –

  1.  If the mask starts to dry too early, spray some water/rose water after application so that you can keep it on for a bit longer and do not let it dry completely
  2. If the ready-to-use pack is a bit on the drier side or difficult to spread, use water or rose water to make it easier to adjust the consistency before application
  3. Use a good brush to apply the mask – helps easy and even application
